Raw video: Deputy pulls gun during off-duty road-rage incident
Raw video: Deputy pulls gun during off-duty road-rage incident: In this video, shot on a cell phone by a teenage bystander inside a car, former Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office homicide detective Thomas Pettis (in a gray, short-sleeved shirt) can be seen pulling a gun during a fight on the side of Interstate 4. Pettis was charged with misdemeanor battery for punching Sebring schoolteacher Evan Rees during the altercation, but prosecutors opted not to charge Pettis with aggravated assault with a firearm, determining that he pulled the gun in self-defense. Insult To Injury: The day you are in an accident, the paramedics will decide what trauma center to take you to. That decision could add tens of thousands of dollars to your bill. A year long Tampa Bay Times investigation shows how, in Florida, trauma charges are all over the map. (March 2014) JOHN PENDYGRAFT | Times
